Dangerous Blizzard Strikes!

Imagine this ..... Trudging through 12 inches of snow to get to school, braving the wicked howling wind, which is blowing at you at a speed of 40-50 mph! No way! Yes, school is closed today due to the blizzard. Even dear hubby's lessons are cancelled.

A very powerful snowstorm made its way through the woods, Tuesday night into Wednesday.... and we were dumped 12 inches of snow. I felt like I was still in a dream when I drew the curtains this morning ..... I'm in Winter Wonderland!

The real-feel temperature this morning was at 12 degree Celsius below zero, with a wind speed of 35 mph! The snow is expected to taper off through Wednesday, but the howling wind will severely blow and drift the snow covering the ground, resulting in whiteouts. We were advised to stay home today.

Our neighbour's plants ... and our sleds, covered with snow ...

The evergreen tree, heavily covered in snow .... a thick layer of snow formed on the roof ... I'm not walking under it!

I wonder if there is school tomorrow ....

  3. Hi Melissa,

    Thanks for dropping by =)
    I'm staying at Madison.
How long have you been in WI? It's really cold here in the Midwest! Always get dumped big time in Winter. Do you miss staying in WI, the snow especially, since you have since moved to Houston? Coming from the sunny island of Singapore, it took us a while to get used to the cold!

    Hi Happy Homebaker,

I read that Beijing's temperature is very cold this year! Freezing! Hope it snows before you go back to Singapore! Your boys will love the snow!

  4. I like Madison at least is a bigger "city" I used to live in Eau Claire. I'm not sure if u know where it is. It is about 2 hrs to Minneapolis.

I lived there for about 5 yrs and moved to Houston last year.I hated living there especially in the winter because I hate driving in the snow. I actually skidded my first time driving in winter so I hate it ever since. I hate bundling up in winter so I really didn't like my time in WI although I do miss the snow sometimes is beautiful but I don't wish to stay there :) because it gets depressing eventually.

How long have u been in Madison?

  5. Hi Melissa

I have heard of Eau Claire, but have never been there. Hope you are enjoying your stay in Houston now!

Yes, winter can be very depressing. Sky darkens so early, at 5pm. It got me a while to get used to it. The overcast sky on snowy days, and the biting cold in the midwest were not much fun for us initially.

Like you, our car skidded and turned 180degrees last winter. We were then driving like a snail, as it was our first time driving in winter. Luckily, there was no car behind us, or we would have collided head on with it. It worries me a lot whenever we need to drive in winter, especially after a snowstorm, or when there is dense fog and icy road conditions.
